Waves of fire then flood

THE RECENT CHALLENGES NATURE HAS THROWN AT US REINFORCE OUR COMMITMENT TO PROTECT NATURAL TREASURES IN ADVERSITY.

Suddenly in late October 2019 the Forgotten Valley in the Hawkesbury where our farm shelters was besieged by huge mega fire fronts. The Gospers Mountain fire went on to destroy an area seven times the size of Singapore, combining with other fire fronts to become monstrous in its intensity and ferocity. The RFS at State and local level kept us informed so we could keep our farm running and stock and horses safe without being a distraction when there were so many emergencies to deal with.

We owe a lot to the RFS both local and beyond.

Then come February in a total turnaround when we were nearly cut off by flood waters which rise rapidly and cut you off in hours. You have to experience a flood to believe the sinister way the waters creep up and make roads impassable within hours.

Summer is ending soon and with the rain and sun hopefully the green grass will flourish and set us up for winter feed.

The contrast between fire and flood can be seen in these images.
